Ms. Monika Gurung is an environmental engineer with a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering from Kathmandu University. As a Lifetime Member of the Society of Environmental Engineers of Nepal (SEEN), she actively collaborates with professionals from government agencies, NGOs, and academic institutions to drive sustainable solutions.
With a strong background in event coordination and stakeholder engagement, she has successfully organized impactful events such as the International Youth Exchange 2023 and the National Conference on Waste Management and Circular Economy 2024. Her professional experience includes working with SEEN, Doko Recyclers, the Himalayan Research Institute (HRI), the Environment and Public Health Organization (ENPHO), and SmartPaani for Water (S4W). Through her tenure in these organizations, she has gained expertise in waste management awareness campaigns, Material Recovery Facility operations under the HMF Project, monitoring and evaluation of waste-smart schools under the KOICA Project, as well as research and event management.
Passionate about creating measurable environmental change, Ms. Gurung serves as a Waste Smart Fellow-Bharatpur under the Green Shift Project and she is committed to improving Bharatpur Metropolitan City's waste management scenario through research, policy advocacy, fostering waste-smart schools, and conducting awareness campaigns.

Abhishek Halwai

Abhishek Halwai is an environmental engineer with a strong background in waste-to-energy technologies, circular economy, and anaerobic digestion systems. A graduate of Kathmandu University, he has worked as a Research Assistant at the Resource Recovery Research Laboratory, where he contributed to projects focused on optimizing biogas production from food waste using advanced anaerobic fermentation techniques. His research explored the role of trace element supplementation and microbial dynamics in improving biogas yields. Driven by a passion for sustainable solutions, Abhishek has experience in solid waste management, wastewater treatment, and biotechnology. He is particularly interested in integrating biotechnological innovations with local resource management practices to improve environmental resilience in South Asia. As a waste smart fellow in Janakpur Sub-Metropolitan City, he wants to learn and inspire advocacy and sustainable waste management practices through research and suitable policy changes. Abhishek ultimately aspires to develop scalable biogas and composting technologies for rural and semi-urban communities in Nepal.

Samyog Dhakal

Samyog Dhakal, a dedicated environmental and sustainability enthusiast, currently serves as a Waste Smart Fellow in Bardibas Municipality under the Green Shift: Circularity of Plastic Waste for Net-Zero Carbon Nepal project. Holding a bachelor&rsquo;s degree in environmental science from Kathmandu University, he was a fellow for the Environmental Protection Project, supported by Terre des hommes (tdh)/BMZ during his undergraduate thesis.
He has experience working with a Swiss company, BluAct Technologies on a Water Treatment Project in Parasi District with the Bhojpuri speaking community to contributing as an associate environmentalist with NEA Engineering Company, engaging with diverse communities from eastern, Sankhuwasabha to western, Humla region of Nepal. Notably, his role with Intellectual Center involved preparing a policy guide and strategic campaign guide for an inclusive circular economy initiative in South and Southeast Asia in a Stockholm Environment Institute (SEI) Funded project as program associate.

Om Shanti Thapa is a local of Nepalgunj and is working as a Waste Smart Fellow in Nepalgunj Sub-Metropolitan City. She has always been fascinated by the environment. Om Shanti is a dedicated environmentalist and enthusiast in the field of conservation of nature.
Om Shanti is a recent graduate with a BSc in Environment Science from Tribhuvan University. She had always loved nature. From high school, she actively participated as a volunteer in public awareness campaigns about environmental protection, climate change, and solid waste management. She had worked in the Department of Environment and Sanitation at Nepalgunj Sub-Metropolitan City as an Environmental Volunteer. While working as an environmental volunteer she has been engaged in the field of solid waste management, environmental sustainability, and disaster risk management. She has developed soft skills like communication, leadership, teamwork, the ability to work under pressure, and time management. She has also gained experience in working with elected representatives and municipal officials.

ओम शान्ति हालै त्रिभुवन विश्वविद्यालयबाट वातावरण विज्ञानमा स्नातक (BSc) पूरा गरेकी छिन्। उनी सानैदेखि प्रकृतिलाई प्रेम गर्थिन्। उच्च विद्यालयदेखि नै उनी वातावरण संरक्षण, जलवायु परिवर्तन, र ठोस फोहोर व्यवस्थापनका बारेमा जनचेतना अभियानहरूमा सक्रिय रूपमा स्वयंसेवकको रूपमा सहभागी हुन्थिन्। उनले नेपालगन्ज उपमहानगरपालिकाको वातावरण र सरसफाइ विभागमा पर्यावरण स्वयंसेवकको रूपमा काम गरेकी छिन्।

Awanish Adhikari, an esteemed environmental engineer with a fervent passion for sustainability, presently holds the position of Waste Smart Fellow at Lalitpur Municipality, contributing to the pivotal Green Shift initiative. This project, titled 'Circularity of Plastic Waste for Net-Zero Carbon Nepal,' represents a significant step towards environmental conservation.
A graduate of Kathmandu University, Mr. Adhikari earned his bachelor&rsquo;s degree in environmental engineering. His professional journey includes a notable tenure as a research officer at NDI Consulting Pvt. Ltd. During his time with NDI, he spearheaded a critical project focused on the monitoring and mapping of spring sources within the Raksirang and Kailash Rural Municipalities, employing Geographic Information Systems (GIS) for enhanced accuracy and insight.
Further showcasing his dedication to the field, Mr. Adhikari previously undertook an internship with the NEA's Environment and Social Studies Department. There, he was instrumental in conducting comprehensive site evaluations for the &lsquo;Godrang to Devnagar 33KV&rsquo; Transmission Line project. His meticulous assessment of environmental conditions and potential repercussions culminated in the development of Initial Environmental Examination (IEE) and Terms of Reference (ToR) reports.

As a Waste Smart Fellow with The GreenShift Project, Shashwat is supporting Khadak Municipality to strengthen local waste management systems through community engagement, data-driven planning, and awareness initiatives. His interests lie in resource recovery, sustainable agriculture, and creating practical solutions that improve environmental sustainability and community well-being.

Sulochana Lama

Sulochana&nbsp;Lama is a young researcher with a&nbsp;Bachelor&rsquo;s Degree in Environmental Science&nbsp;and has hands-on experience in ecological surveys and environmental monitoring. She is currently pursuing a&nbsp;Master&rsquo;s in Environmental Science&nbsp;from the Central Department of Environmental&nbsp;Science,&nbsp;Tribhuvan&nbsp;University. With&nbsp;a strong foundation&nbsp;in the interdisciplinary nature of environmental science, she integrates ecological assessment, community engagement, and spatial analysis to understand complex human-environment interactions. Sangita Maharjan

Ms. Sangita Maharjan is currently working as a &nbsp;Programme Manager for Restless Development Nepal. She is passionate about gender equality, climate action and works as a social activist, mentor, trainer, and program expert. She brings strong programme expertise with over a decade of program experience in the development&nbsp;sector, having worked for several organizations such as Habitat for Humanity International, Srijansil Mahila Samuha , Sneha Samaj, and Jaycees Chapter (JCI) Patan Lady. She was recognized as&nbsp; 'Best Project Chairwoman Award 2020' from JCI Patan lady , and Restless Development 2019 'Value Champion'.

Ashish Ghimire works as a Communications and Partnership Officer at Restless Development Nepal. He studied Computer Engineering at Kathmandu University, which helps him bring a tech perspective to his communications work. Before joining Restless Development, he was an IT &amp; Communications Officer at Higher Ground Community Development Nepal. In his free time, Ashish enjoys creating multimedia content, making funny skits, and exploring his interest in movies and filmmaking.

Sudha Baidhya joined YI-Lab as Finance Officer and brings with her 11 years of involvement and experience in development and the private sector handling the financials of different donor projects. She has experience working in the areas of reporting to Funding Organizations, Preparing Budget, strengthening internal control systems, facilitation of audit functions and is well versed in accounting and is pursuing her Master&rsquo;s in Public Administration.
At YI-Lab, she is responsible to assist Program Director with the smooth functioning of the financial and administrative operation system. Additionally, she is responsible for ensuring financial and tax compliance and the facilitation of audit functions.

Sabina Budhathoki is a dedicated environmental advocate with a hands-on approach to addressing waste management and conservation challenges. With a Master&rsquo;s degree in Environmental Science and her background as a researcher on several waste-related projects has given her valuable expertise in waste management, pollution reduction, and understanding the wider impacts of environmental degradation, all of which she brings to her current role. Committed to environmental conservation, Sabina promotes pollution reduction, resource safeguarding, and sustainable practices. She is driven by a vision of eco-friendly, resilient communities and works to create awareness and environmental resilience in those around her.

Pradip Khatiwada is the Founder and Executive Director at Youth Innovation Lab (YI-Lab)&mdash;a not-for-profit social enterprise. He is recognized for his leadership on anti-plastic bag movement and getting legislation on plastic bags ban and leading a Guinness world record attempt for the &lsquo;largest tree hug&rsquo; event. His work has received extensive coverage on global media e.g. Daily Mail, The Telegraph, CBS News, ABC, Hindustan times, and Indian Express. He headed Government of Nepal, National Planning Commission and Himalayan Climate Initiatives&rsquo; jointly led initiative National Volunteering Program as the National Coordinator. Under his leadership he led a group of 5000 National Volunteers and built 700 resilient homes, distributed relief materials to 15,000+ people and 1000 scholarships in 2015 earthquake affected districts. The New York Times acknowledged his leadership in their special edition &lsquo;The Nepal Catastrophe&rsquo;, on the Nepal earthquake.
Pradip earned his post graduation from Tata Institute of Social Sciences -Mumbai, India with focus on Disaster Management and Livelihood Recovery. Before starting YI-Lab, he worked as the researcher at National Science Foundation&rsquo;s PEER Science project at Kathmandu Living Labs. He is the recipient of 2017 US Department of States&rsquo; International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP).

प्रदीपले भारतको टाटा इन्स्टिच्युट अफ सोशल साइन्सेस, मुम्बई बाट विपद् व्यवस्थापन र जीविकोपार्जन पुनःस्थापनामा केन्द्रित पोस्टग्राजुएशन पूरा गर्नुभएको छ। युथ इनोभेसन ल्याब सुरु गर्नु अघि उहाँले काठमाडौँ लिभिङ ल्याब्स मा नेशनल साइन्स फाउन्डेसनको पिअर साइन्स प्रोजेक्ट मा अनुसन्धानकर्ताका रूपमा काम गर्नुभएको थियो। उहाँ २०१७ मा अमेरिकाको युएस डिपार्टमेन्ट अफ स्टेट्सको इन्टरनेशनल भिजिटर लिडरसिप प्रोग्राम (IVLP) को प्राप्तकर्ता पनि हुनुहुन्छ।

Nalini, Regional Director at Restless Development, joined the agency in 2015 as the India Hub Director, since moved to a regional leadership position, where her responsibilities span across developing strategic partnerships in Asia, managing personnel and youth leaders, and ensuring financial and legal compliance.
As a Regional Director, her role is crucial in securing resources, elevating the profile of Restless Development, and representing the organization to government and international agencies, donors, and the corporate sector, always championing the organization&rsquo;s values and vision.
Nalini is deeply passionate about youth-led development, addressing issues related to disability, and enhancing access to opportunities and resources for young girls. When she&rsquo;s off the clock, she enjoys playing the host, studying poetry and spend time with her pets and nephews
